Deval Patrick wins Democratic Nomination for MA Governor

Deval Patrick won the Democratic nomination for governor tonight with almost 50% of the vote, becoming the first African American to win a major party's nomination for the top job. In 1994, President Clinton appointed Patrick to the nation's top civil rights position at the Justice Department, where he worked on a wide range of issues to protect civil rights. If Patrick defeats Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey in November, he will become only the United States' second elected African American governor.

Two Chinese Boys

You've no doubt seen them before. Two Chinese Boys sit side by side in a dorm room melodramatically lip synching sappy pop while someone works obliviously behind them at a computer with an oldschool flickering monitor. Their dramatic flair is alluring, their lip synching on point, their chemistry often sensually lush. The guy on the right is tough and quasi-thuggish, often performing the role of the hip-hop papi, while his partner is more delicate and feminine in his demeanor, often expressing sensitivity and melodramatic vulnerability. They are definitely one cute and entertaining couple. In one of our favorite videos, the dynamic duo perform the song "Bu De Bu Ai" (Gotta Love You) by Wilber Pan.

Mya

Vibe: In the past you have been linked to artists like 50 Cent. Any comments?

Mya: Yes: it’s not true. 50 and I never dated, never cuddled, never did anything, period, despite what he chooses to believe in his own mind. I don’t know how he would get Lloyd Banks confused with me.

Vibe: Whoa. That’s cold blooooded. Link

DatflyBody

On his Myspace profile, he calls himself Datflybody. And yeah, he can legitimately call himself that. The 23-year old was born and raised in the Dominican Republic but now lives in Brooklyn. "I do a little of everything, and everything I do, I do well...draw, sing, write... I'm that rennaisance dude," he says. You might also note that he claims that he is "not sure" of his sexual orientation.

Adrian Fenty, Mr. Mayor?

Thirty-five year old D.C. Councilman Adrian M. Fenty has won the Democratic primary election for mayor of the District of Columbia tonight, virtually ensuring that he will become the youngest elected mayor in history for the overwhelming Democratic city. Fenty's youth and energetic, personal political style sets him apart from his chief opponent DC Council Chair Linda Cropp who has been involved in city politics for 25 years. Link

Wrestler Orlando Jordan reveals Bisexuality

Back in January, we reported that WWE would unveil a storyline in which wrestler Orlando Jordan would be portrayed as bisexual. Well, the storyline never materialized, and Jordan was released from his contract in May. Now, comes word that the wrestler himself is apparently bisexual in real life. Pro Wrestling Insider reports that in a recent interview, Jordan revealed that he is now working on the independent wrestling scene. Jordan also revealed that he is openly bisexual and doesn't care if some people may have a problem with that fact. Jordan also identifies as bisexual on his rather bloody Myspace page.

Rafa Yapur

We can't be absolutely certain if this is really Rafa Yapur's Myspace page, but it looks pretty credible, and more importantly, it has some hot pics of the Spanish model. If the page is authentic, Rafa currently lives in New York City and is bisexual.

In Memory of Steve Irwin

Labor Day has been marred by the shocking and sad news that Australia's "Crocodile Hunter," Steve Irwin, was killed yesterday by a stingray while filming a children's tv show. Irwin loved animals, and if there is any consolution in this tragedy, it is that Irwin did what he loved to the very end.

Jesse Garcia

Jesse Garcia is one radically cool dude. The actor stars in the breakthrough indie hit movie QuinceaƱera, which took home both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at this year´s Sundance Film Festival. In QuinceaƱera, Garcia plays a bad boy who happens to be gay named Carlos who bonds with his pregnant cousin after they are both forced out of their homes. Carlos becomes sexually involved with the same-sex couple who owns the property he lives in. Asked about having to make out with dudes in the movie, Garcia says of one of his co-stars, "He's a great kisser, so it was fine . . . it was a kiss." Garcia is currently filming a movie called A Boy Immigrant in which he plays a college student who smuggles a boy into the country to pay for school.

50 Cent wants to work with Sir Elton John

In yet another sign that the Apocalypse may be nigh, rapper 50 Cent, the self-proclaimed "George W Bush of Hip Hop," recently told Rolling Stone that he is a big fan of Elton John and wants to do a duet with the legendary British singer. "Elton has incredible talent. He was meant to come out and record some stuff with me but it didn't happen," 50 told the magazine. And the timing may just be right for Elton too. Elton John recently told Rolling Stone that he plans to do a hip hop album and wants to work with Snoop, Kanye and Pharrell. The more cynical amongst us may speculate that 50 Cent is trying to repair his homophobic image since he told Playboy Magazine just last year that he has nothing in common with gay men, refers to them with deragatory terms, and doesn't want any gay men around him because they make him uncomfortable. As with 50 Cent's mentor Eminem, Elton John may provide a convenient and well-publicized way for 50 Cent to distance himself from his previous homophobic actions as he attempts to transition into a career in same-sex friendly Hollywood.

Terrell Owens on Cover of ESPN Magazine

In the current edition of ESPN Magazine, writer Tom Friend writes an open letter to Dallas Cowboys Coach Bill Parcells in which he apprizes the coach of T.O's infamous antics and tantrums by mock interviewing his previous coaches and teammates. He concludes the letter with: "Talked to T.O. He said, 'Get your popcorn, 'cause it's going to be a show.'"

Max Lerner

Max Lerner is a freshman free safety for Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. You can currently watch Lerner on MTV's reality series entitled Two-a-Days," which refers to intense football practice drills that take place early in the morning and in the afternoon. The series follows the 2005 football season of Lerner and the Hoover (Alabama) High School Buccaneers. In high school, Lerner was a two-time all-state selection who racked up 85 tackles, three interceptions, and a touchdown while helping Hoover to a 14-1, 6-A state championship season a year ago before signing with Furman in February.

Furman coach Bobby Lamb said the he likes what he sees of Lerner on the show so far. "Everybody's excited about it," Lamb said. "The part I saw I thought Max did a good job, and the reviews I've gotten were that he did a good job."

Lerner, who is dealing with all the fame, says he is enjoying the limelight too, including teasing from teammates. "They've been giving me grief since the beginning of summer when they found out. They've been calling me 'Hollywood,'" Lerner said. Lerner will be 19 years old on September 8.
